Remedial Deep Tissue Massage focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. This type of massage aims to resolve issues resulting from repetitive strain, poor posture, chronic pain, whiplash, falls, twisted ankles etc. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff neck, low back stiffness, and sore, aching shoulders.
The strokes concentrate on areas of tension and tend to be deeper than Swedish massage. The aim is to alleviate any pain and discomfort that the client may have had for a while, helping to restore them to an active and pain-free life.
Remedial massage can also be helpful in conditions such as fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, rheumatoid and osteo-arthritis, muscle spasm and chronic back problems.
‘Remedial’ originates from the word ‘remedy’, meaning a treatment that relieves or cures the symptoms of illness. Sonja’s approach to remedial massage provides an in-depth focus on how to reduce pain and restore flexibility. After more than 30 years’ experience of working with massage, Sonja chooses a full body massage format, for maximum benefit and for a deeper level of healing in the postural muscles.
